Most of tourists need to make phone calls to inform their family or friends at home that they are alright. There are two basic options to do that: If you have a local Ukrainian phone, find out the rate for calling your country numbers. Rates fluctuate significantly depending on the cell phone provider. If you do not have a local cell phone, you can use some phone places for making International calls, one of them is located in Passazh hotel at Preobrazhenskaya between Grecheskaya and Deribasovskaya.
The service is very cheap, as an example the rate to call American phone numbers would be $ 0.25 a minute. The staff working at the phone service is very helpful and assists customers with dialing numbers correctly with area and country codes.
Most of our Odessa rental apartments from the catalog have either wi fi or cable Internet access, for those tourists who did not bring any computer, we recommend Internet cafes located in Odessa downtown. One of them is also located at the same pasazh hotel where you will be provided with a personal computer for a 5 grivnas per hour. Another relatively good one combining international phone calls and Internet services is located at Rishelievskaya street between Bazarnaya and Bolshaya Arnautskaya.
Nowadays more and more tourists use portable, modern means of communication as I-pad, I-phones and smart phones that enable their owners to use wi fi at apartments, restaurants or cafes. Most of the restaurants in Odessa provide wi fi Internet connection to its visitors, what you normally need to do is to ask the waitress for the password to login to their network. The service is almost always free of charge given you order something from the menu.
